Sicangu Nation Tribal Defense Solutions (SNTDS) was established on March 23, 2023, to create a comprehensive, sovereign, Lakota-led system of public safety, emergency response, and community support for the Sicangu Oyate. Our mission is to protect our people by combining modern emergency response capabilities with the traditional values that have guided our Nation for generations. Every initiative we undertake is centered on ensuring that every child, elder, and family feels safe, supported, and empowered.
As a tribally aligned organization serving the Rosebud Indian Reservation and surrounding communities, SNTDS is developing six strategic operational facilities, including a Main Operations Center, Training Facilities, Community Outreach Centers, Emergency Rapid Response Units, Healthcare & Wellness Facilities, and NexGen 911 Dispatch Relay Centers. Through accountability, transparency, workforce development, and intergovernmental collaboration, we are building a sustainable public safety infrastructure that strengthens emergency response, enhances regional coordination, and supports the long-term well-being of our communities. With only eight law enforcement officers serving the reservation, our work plays a vital role in expanding emergency response capacity and community protection.

Emergency Response & Public Safety
SNTDS coordinates emergency response operations and provides community defense services that improve public safety across the Rosebud Indian Reservation. Through strategic planning, protective services, emergency medical transport support, and intergovernmental coordination, we help ensure rapid, organized responses during emergencies while strengthening community resilience.
Emergency Communications & Dispatch Solutions
Our organization is developing modern NexGen 911 Dispatch Relay Centers and advanced public safety communication systems that improve coordination between emergency responders, healthcare providers, and government agencies. These technologies enhance response times, improve situational awareness, and create a stronger emergency communications network for tribal communities.
Training, Community Outreach & Workforce Development
SNTDS invests in the future of tribal public safety by providing workforce development, emergency preparedness training, and community outreach initiatives. Through education, wellness support, and leadership development, we empower community members with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to build a safer, healthier, and more resilient Sicangu Nation.
